What changes the price?
- Quantity. Aged care homes buying several units can ask for volume pricing.
- Retailer. The same companion cat is listed at different prices across Australian shops.
- Delivery. Multi-site delivery and freight to regional homes add cost.
- Batteries. Battery-powered pets need regular replacements; rechargeable pets need charging routines.
- Warranty and support. A longer warranty or a replacement service costs more upfront and less over time.
Budgeting for a facility
A home planning a set for one wing can multiply the unit price by the number of pets and add freight and a battery supply. Most start small, run a trial and then expand. PARO is usually budgeted as a single piece of equipment for a unit.
Can funding cover the cost?
NDIS participants may be able to buy a robotic pet as low-cost assistive technology, which covers items under $1,500. Support at Home does not list robotic pets. See NDIS funding.
